What Envoy customers cite when they switch

Five recurring themes from public G2 and Capterra reviews, 2024–2026.

Paraphrased for clarity. Each paired with how Visitly addresses it.

01

SSO and the security basics live behind Premium.

Envoy gates SAML SSO, watchlist screening, ID scan, and directory sync behind Premium ($329/loc/mo at list).

02

Per-printer licensing fees compound at scale.

Multi-site reviewers cite printers licensed individually, multiplying hardware cost across rollouts.

03

Customization gated to higher tiers.

Reviewers describe layout and policy changes as slow, with customization locked behind upgrades.

Who this is for

Every team that touches your front door signs off on this move.

Envoy switches usually start with one team's complaint. Here's what each team actually gets.

Security stops asking for exceptions.

Envoy holds SSO, watchlist, and audit logging behind Premium. Security ends up either approving the upcharge or running visitor sign-in outside the identity stack entirely.

  • SAML SSO and audit logging on every plan, not gated

  • Watchlist screening against visitor and contractor lists

  • ITAR-aware citizenship gating for restricted areas

IT gets provisioning that matches the rest of the stack.

Manual visitor account management doesn't scale past a few sites, and SCIM support is another Premium-gated line item on Envoy's quote.

  • SCIM 2.0 auto-provisioning and deprovisioning by HRIS

  • SIEM event streaming for compliance reporting

  • Documented webhook and API payloads, no black box

Facilities stops paying per printer, per site.

Multi-site rollouts multiply Envoy's per-printer licensing fee across every location, and hardware has to be Envoy-approved.

  • BYO hardware: Brother, Zebra, Honeywell, Epson

  • No per-printer or per-device licensing fee

  • PACS / access-control bridge for badge-linked entry

Front desk gets a kiosk that doesn't fight them.

Reviewers describe Envoy's customization as slow and gated. Front desk teams end up working around the tool instead of with it.

  • Advanced Badge Designer and custom fields, no tier lock

  • Government ID scan and visitor approvals built in

  • Runs on the iPads already at the desk

What changes after you switch

The outcomes security and ops teams actually measure.

Not feature checkboxes — what changes in the first quarter after migration.

100%

Audit-ready from day one

Every check-in timestamped, encrypted, and exportable — no scrambling before an ITAR or SOC 2 audit.

9 days

Full migration, not a pilot

Switch Assist takes you from Envoy export to live cutover in 9 days, across every site.

$0

No per-printer surcharge

BYO hardware across every location — the fee structure that drives Envoy's per-site cost away.

9-DAY SWITCH ASSIST

A defined migration path, not an open-ended project.

Switch Assist is included with Business and Enterprise contracts. We handle the procurement notice, the SSO cutover, and the parallel-run window so your team isn't doing migration work on top of their day job.

DAY 0–1

Discovery & scope

Walk your Envoy admin export, integrations, and IdP configuration. Confirm scope and Switch Assist plan.

DAY 1–3

Visitly stand-up

Tenant provisioned. SSO wired to your IdP. Sites imported. SCIM and SIEM configured for tenants that need them.

DAY 3–6

Pilot & parallel run

One or two pilot sites move to Visitly while the rest stay on Envoy. Audit log and SIEM payloads validated.

DAY 6–9

Cutover & Envoy close

Remaining sites cut over. Envoy contract closed at next renewal. We send the procurement notice template.

FAQ

Questions Security and IT ask before switching.

What does Envoy's Premium tier actually cost compared to Visitly Business?

+

Envoy Premium is $329 per location per month at list. Visitly Business is $167 per location per month, published. Premium gates SSO, watchlist, ID scan, and directory sync. Business ships all four, plus Advanced Badge Designer, mass broadcast, and webhooks. Run the calculator above for your specific scale.

How does Visitly's SSO setup actually work?

+

Standard SAML 2.0 across Okta, Microsoft Entra, OneLogin, Google Workspace, PingOne, Auth0, and generic SAML or OIDC. Average setup time is under 15 minutes from your IdP. SCIM 2.0 auto-provisioning is available when your team needs deprovisioning by HRIS.

Will our existing iPads work?

+

Yes. Any Apple device running the current iPad OS will work as a Visitly kiosk. We don't license hardware, charge per device, or require a managed iPad rental. Brother, Zebra, Honeywell, and Epson printers are all supported.

What happens to our existing Envoy contract during the migration?

+

Switch Assist runs a pilot-and-parallel window so you don't need to cancel Envoy on day one. Envoy contract closes at the next renewal cycle; we send the procurement notice template.

What about workplace platform features (desks, rooms, mailroom)?

+

Visitly is visitor-management-first. We don't sell desk booking, room reservations, or mailroom analytics. If your team needs a workplace OS, Envoy is the more complete answer. If your team needs visitor management depth without the upcharge, that's our wedge.

Can we get the SOC 2 Type II report and BAA before signing?

+

Yes. Trust badges, DPA template, and the sub-processor list are published. SOC 2 Type II report, ISO 27001 Statement of Applicability, CAIQ Lite v4, and HIPAA BAA are available under NDA via Trust Center request.
